How the EAS security system works
The EAS machinery has an antenna that picks up on active tags passing through. If tagged products are not deactivated at the cash counter, the EAS system will detect it and set off the alarm. Therefore, if a ‘customer’ attempting to steal a tagged item, the EAS gate detects the object. The moment the person carrying the item passes through the detector, it will set off the alarm.
The tags attached to the merchandise can either be hard or sticker-based, and they cannot be easily removed. The employee’s task at the cash counter is solely to remove the tag once the merchandise is purchased.
